Will Frank be on his own, a sacrifice to the elder gods, as he tries to fathom the player cards from The Forgotten Age's fourth mythos pack, The City of Archives? Or perhaps this will be his pay day, as he may just have a special guest on the line...
Of note: we talked a smidge about Pay Day + Fence as a post-final action play, and playing events with On Your Own with zero resources. We're not sure if we got the rules right on either and as soon as we know, we'll let you know... STOP PRESS: Matt tells us we got it right on both! Phew.

Join Frank and Peter for a little slumber party (lol!), as they settle in, after playing The Endless Slumber together, to discuss their investigators and talk about the competition that's still ongoing (entries can be sent in to the details below). This is just a short, spoiler-free episode because we were together in the flesh and didn't want to pass up the opportunity to record!

Join Frank for the seventh Think on your Feet, in which Calvin Wright continues his investigations into the madness and mystery surrounding the King in Yellow.
In Think on your Feet episodes, a live play series of Arkham Horror: The Card Game, I endeavour not to edit much at all. Sometimes I cut a bit of shuffling sounds or abbreviate some of my longer pauses (a chap's got to think!), but otherwise, it's uncut, unaltered and meant to feel like you're with me at the table. There may be mistakes and misplays, but hopefully some successes too. In light of the Patreon support and because I want to enhance listening to Drawn to the Flame, I've added some atmospheric details too. Hopefully they elevate the experience.

During the edit I spotted a misplay I made while playing. At 26 minutes, I believe I take a 4 action turn. Little good it did me anyway!

Check out Buy The Same Token on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/BuyTheSameToken#about or Ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/buythesametoken
They very generously gave us player boards to try out, and in return we provide our honest assessment of these accessories to help you decide if they're for you!

Join Frank for the sixth Think on your Feet, in which Calvin Wright finds himself in the sleepy town of Arkham, taking a trip to the Ward Theatre for the premiere of The King in Yellow. I must say, it sounds delightful!
There are mistakes and misplays a-plenty, but hopefully some successes too. But in this episode, in light of the Patreon support and because I want to take Drawn to the Flame to the next level, I've added some atmospheric details too. Hopefully they elevate the listening experience.
Here's the deck I started with: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/181479.
Here's the deck before The Last King: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/181498.
During the edit I spotted a couple of misplays I made while playing. At about 39 minutes I put a damage on 'the fire axe'. I meant fine clothes! My mind was addled by all the damage! And then another fine clothes bloop: when I'm hit by corrosion at 1hr14 or so, somehow I behave as though it's 2 cost rather than 1. Which is... weird. No wait, even weirder - I've convinced myself the gallery is 2 rather than 1 shroud, which is incredibly odd! So the fine clothes discard was correct. And at 1hr25 I seem to have forgotten how Dianne works, and I suggest I'd be cheating to move her to the bystander with the fewest clues, which is funny, since that's exactly what she *should* do! Aaaand at 1hr33 I forget to draw an encounter card... hypergah!

He's a dab hand on the trumpet and his music has the power to wake the dead. In the face of unspeakable creeping doom, he's unfazed, even cool. He's a mystic with the power to move you... ladies and gentleman, Mr Jim Culver! Join Peter and Frank for another investigator-specific episode in which they talk about the second mystic we received in the game, the Dunwich Legacy's very own Jim Culver. Jim has a trumpet and loves skulls, but is there more to this musician, particularly in light of the seal mechanic and the expanded cardpool? Let's find out!

Join Frank and Peter as they talk about playing Arkham Horror solo... and not that two-handed malarkey we've been hearing rumours of, but the true solo, real solo, all by myself solo that's all the rage these days. Most people have had a chance to stray into the wilds of southern Mexico, or are in the final stages of planning an expedition this very minute. Either way, you'll probably want to gen up on what's ahead... So join Peter and Frank as they talk about what they've been reading in anticipation of The Forgotten Age, including Lovecraft's jungle adventure stories, some jungle textbooks and a field guide to swinging on vines and creepers. In the jungle.
There's not too much discussion of the scenarios themselves, but if you've not yet cracked open your deluxe box, maybe do that first, just in case! (And play the scenarios...)

We dive in with a brief overview of the new Guardian investigator, and then look at what new tactics these macho men (and women) can pack. Spoilers, naturally, for The Forgotten Age.
UPDATE: we made a rules error in our Seeker episode: Ursula's reaction ability, because it creates a 'full' action, does also trigger attacks of opportunity should she move into a location with an enemy. Frank will add the full wording from Matt Newman to Arkhamdb soon, but in the meantime, please note we got it slightly wrong 3 episodes ago.

Join Frank for the fifth Think on your Feet, in which Sefina Rousseau finds herself at the base of Sentinel Hill, staring up at the site of the evils of Dunwich. Can she make it to the peak in time to stop Seth Bishop's ritual? Will her Dunwich endeavours be for naught?
In the Think on your Feet series, I endeavour not to edit much at all. Sometimes I cut a bit of shuffling sounds or abbreviate some of my longer pauses (a chap's got to think!), but otherwise, it's uncut, unaltered and meant to feel like you're with me at the table. There are mistakes and misplays a-plenty, but hopefully some successes too. But in this episode, in light of the Patreon support and because I want to take Drawn to the Flame to the next level, I've added some atmospheric details too. Hopefully they elevate the listening experience.

**SPOILERS**:
Here's the deck before Lost in Time and Space: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/132476.
Scenario 7 begins at 4 minutes. Scenario 8 begins at 40 minutes and 30 seconds.
During the edit I spotted a couple of misplays I made while playing. After I advanced to agenda 3 in LiTaS I forgot to draw an encounter card - I was too excited! - but that was countered by playing Narrow Escape a few minutes later. I used it to avoid an attack of opportunity from one enemy who in fact doesn't make attacks of opportunity! Whoops! So I could have saved myself a hit from the other enemy engaged with me.... more fool me!

Join Peter and Frank as they start a new occasional series (we hope!) for Drawn to the Flame: Inquiring Mind. In it, they talk to friend of the show and all-round good guy Benjamin, who's been trying investigators he's never tried before. The purpose of this series is to explore investigators not exactly comprehensively, but in terms of trying them for the first time: why hadn't Ben tried them before? What did he want to get out of the experience? And how did it go? In this episode: everyone's favourite urchin!

Join Frank for the fourth Think on your Feet, in which Sefina Rousseau arrives in Dunwich village to find the place in a sorry state of perturbation. The villagers are keeping secrets and fell beasts roam the countryside...
In the Think on your Feet series, I endeavour not to edit much at all. Sometimes I cut a bit of shuffling sounds or abbreviate some of my longer pauses (a chap's got to think!), and I normally aim to pare out the bus sounds (buses? in Dunwich village??) but otherwise, it's uncut, unaltered and meant to feel like you're with me at the table. There are mistakes and misplays a-plenty, but hopefully some successes too.
Here's the deck before Blood on the Altar: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/131203.
Here's the deck before Undimensioned and Unseen: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/131231.
Scenario 5 begins at 4 minutes on the nose. Scenario 6 begins at 55 minutes.
There's a tiny misplay at 48 minutes: the whippoorwills hunt to Village Commons... except they can't, because it's not connected to where they were. It doesn't particularly affect the outcome of the scenario but it might have made things marginally easier for me... it's hard to say. But yes, in the fug of Blood on the Altar, I forgot some of the location connections! I also stopped mentioning what's in my hand quite as often... in fact, I don't think I do so *at all*. Let me know if it's too tricky to follow as that's probably pretty hard to track! Oh and at 1hr47 I forget about the -1 Willpower in the Whateley Ruins, which means I shouldn't have lost Frozen in Fear. Fortunately, I had enough actions to spare the following turn anyway! PHEW.

The world of Arkham Horror: The Card game is more than simply smashing shoggoths in the face. Hidden in dark corners of the land, in musty libraries and secluded meeting halls are sects and secrets, esoterica to be rustled up by only the most determined of investigators. Where pages are to be thumbed and rites studied, there's no one better than Miskatonic's very own librarian, Daisy Walker. Join Peter and Frank in this episode as they discuss Daisy's strengths, weaknesses and playstyles in another investigator-specific episode.

Drawn to the Flame is delighted to be able to announce a forthcoming card from the Dim Carcosa mythos pack: Time Warp. Fantasy Flight Games has very kindly sent us the card to announce to you, our dear listeners, and we are absolutely bursting with excitement about this amazing, *weird* card. This episode also contains a second section, in which Frank and Peter discuss Carcosa so far. The two sections are clearly separated. In the second, we talk about what's happened, what we feel doubt and conviction are doing, and where it all might end. What are patrons? Where is Carcosa? Who you callin' dim?

Join Frank for the third Think on your Feet, in which Sefina Rousseau continues to carry out tasks set her by Dr Henry Armitage. Will she find the dread Necronomicon? Just what are these delays on the train line to Dunwich??
In the Think on your Feet series, I endeavour not to edit much at all. Sometimes I cut a bit of shuffling sounds or abbreviate some of my longer pauses (a boy's got to think!), and I normally aim to pare out the bus sounds (buses? in the middle of a museum??) but otherwise, it's uncut, unaltered and meant to feel like you're with me at the table. There are mistakes and misplays a-plenty, but hopefully some successes too.
Here's the deck before Miskatonic Museum: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/114354.
Here's the deck before Essex County Express: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/114378.
Scenario 3 begins at 2 minutes. Scenario 4 begins at almost exactly 41 minutes. Thank you to everyone who wrote in saying the first live play was enjoyable, or encouraging me to do more. It's been very touching and I'm super excited to share these further episodes with you!

Just a measly twelve months ago, Frank and Peter settled down to record their thoughts about weapons and allies in Arkham Horror: The Card Game. At that time, the core set and the Dunwich Legacy deluxe were the only cards out in the wild, and your two hosts of Drawn to the Flame were just learning the ropes. A year's passed! What a difference a year makes. Tune in for an end-of-term episode when Frank reflects on Arkham highlights over the year and Peter loses himself to his favourite topic: flavour text.

Join Frank for another first look, this time at the player cards of The Pallid Mask, the fourth mythos pack in the Path to Carcosa cycle. Rumour has it it's time to get skilful, and familiar cards grow ever more powerful...
The card discussion itself starts around 2 minutes. Special guest arrives at 40 minutes.

In this episode, Peter and Frank look at card draw. Why is card draw a good thing - and is it an unqualifiedly good thing in a game where the safety of one's own deck is to be questioned? Why is card draw a cornerstone of card games, and how does that relate to Arkham Horror? How do the five factions draw cards, and does it add flavour to the character of the factions? This episode isn't quite a guide, but it's not so much a discussion as a survey, either. We hope you like it!

Join Frank for the second Think on your Feet. After suggestions from listeners and a poll on Facebook, Sefina Rousseau has been chosen to take on the challenges of the Dunwich Legacy.
As with Think on your Feet I, I've dived straight in and got to the meat of playing. Unlike Think on your Feet I, Sefina is a far more tricksy investigator to pilot than Roland, so there are certainly some pauses and challenges with flow and best lines. As before, it's meant to sound real - so you might pick up the sound of traffic, or tokens being shifted, or droplets of sweat dripping from my brow as I fret...
Here's the level 0 version of the deck: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/88127. There are some odd choices there; I talk about (most of) them in the episode.
Here's the deck after scenario 1: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/100374.
Scenario 1 begins at 3 minutes. Scenario 2 begins at almost exactly 50 minutes. Thank you to everyone who wrote in saying the first live play was enjoyable, or encouraging me to do more. It's been very touching and I'm glad to share these episodes with you!

In this episode, Peter and Frank look into spending experience. They think about upgrading strategies, ways of approaching experience, looking at team composition and wrestle with a good answer for what's best to cut. They try to fill the episode with good examples, too, for which you can be the judge...

In this episode, Peter and Frank participate in the #AllPurpleAllTheTime challenge, a gauntlet tossed at our feet by the good fellows of Arkham Chronicle. We're joined by the Mythos Busters and the team is rounded out by The Whisperer in Darkness, aka the Man from Leng, and it's a pretty simple mission: we each have to build a deck for a mystic investigator, and they'll make up an all purple investigative team!
We drew... Akachi Onyele, so tune in as we discuss her strengths and weaknesses and build a deck for her. To see our final deck, take a look here: https://arkhamdb.com/decklist/view/4092/allpurpleallthetime-akachi-onyele-1.0.

Join Frank for a new type of Drawn to the Flame episode: Think on your Feet, a live play series. In this episode, very much the pilot, he takes a Roland deck through a little campaign called... The Night of the Zealot. Will the zealot get enough sleep? What happens when morning breaks?
This is a new style of episode for Drawn to the Flame, and we'd be delighted to hear what you think of it. We wanted to dive straight in, so there isn't much introduction and Frank cracks on. We wanted it to sound real - as it is - so there's been minimal editing, mainly just shortening up long pauses and removing the sounds of traffic from outside. You can hear the token bag being shaken and cards being shuffled, and that's all intentional. It's a live play-through!
Frank chose a good stuff Roland deck he'd cooked up - no frills, no tricks - to try out for this style of episode. Here's the list: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/93235 You can click through that list to the future iterations, but maybe do that when you hear the musical cue.
What else? Time stamps: scenario 1 begins at 1 minute; scenario 2 begins at 25 minutes; scenario 3 begins at 52 minutes. ENJOY! Merry Christmas! Oh and if you like this sort of episode and have read this far... tell Frank whom he should play as next!

Join Frank for another first look, this time at the player cards of A Phantom of Truth, the third mythos pack in the Path to Carcosa cycle. There is lots of oohing and ahhing, and some personal details from your boy Frank... but more importantly: what terror cards are out there? What are relics? And is salt on a slug really a cheap shot?
The card discussion itself starts almost exactly at 3 minutes.

At twenty minutes or so, Frank talks about not being able to investigate if there are no clues around. Of course what he means is: you can still investigate, but you won't get a clue for investigating, which is a shame if you're using an investigation as the test to add six icons to to clear The King in Yellow.

Join Peter and Frank for the thirty-eighth episode of Drawn to the Flame, in which they discuss the midway point of the Path to Carcosa cycle. After a theatre of the dead, a manic dinner party, a race through the Historical Society of Arkham and now a visit to a mental institution, this campaign has been filled with wonders and terrors. Peter and Frank talk about the story so far, some recent play experiences, and ponder what might be in store for the rest of the campaign.

You're a pro-slayer. You can find clues for days. Spells? You know em! And yet, every so often, you find yourself tapping out because you may be a beast at Arkham Horror, but the encounter deck has your number. Join Peter and Frank in this episode of Drawn to the Flame as they look at the encounter deck, with a particular eye on the keywords of cards most commonly found in that deck. What does surge do? How do you retaliate? And what on earth is peril (don't ask your friends)? All this and more...

Hey listener! Drawn to the Flame has a new SPOILER POLICY: Peter and Frank will flag up, at the start of each episode, what they intend to talk about. The core set is always fair game and the most recent cycle is usually fair game, too. Peter and Frank remembered to mention it this time around, so it's at the start of the episode.
